Mother Tongue Film Festival - Washington, D.C.

Keep Talking will screen at the Mother Tongue Film Festival, presented by Recovering Voices, a collaborative Smithsonian initiative and partnership between the National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.

Keep Talking will screen at the Anchorage Museum Thursday, November 30th at 6 PM. The free film screening, in partnership with the Anchorage International Film Festival, will be followed by a panel discussion addressing issues of revitalization, historical trauma and recovery with Roy Mitchell (Research Analyst at Alaska Native Language Preservation and Advisory Council), Melissa Borton (Tribal Administrator at Native Village of Afognak), Alisha Drabek (Executive Vice President of Afognak Native Corporation), Karen Weinberg (director of Keep Talking) and Candace Branson (co-teacher; featured in the film.)

Keep Talking will screen at the Hawaii International Film Festival on November 6 at 8:00PM for its US Premiere.

Director Karen Weinberg and subject Sadie Coyle will participate in a special extended Q&A discussion led by M. Puakea Nogelmeier, Hawaiian Language Professor at the University of Hawai'i, renowned researcher, composer and translator, director of Awaiaulu Hawaiin Literature Project, and author of Mai Pa‘a I Ka Leo: Historical Voice in Hawaiian Primary Materials, Looking Forward and Listening Back.
